JAANE TU…….ya Jaane Na

MICS-India By shekhar kulshreshtha

Another extravagant release by the Amir Khan Production, Jaane Tu….yaa Jaane na is certainly a movie that will certainly tame the present generation towards a meaningful life patter, which mostly the present generation forget or try to neglect.

Life is all about enjoying, fun-making and masti sort of stuff. But there is a stage in everyone’s life when he/she has to make some strong and firm decisions that shape the future generations. The youth stage is a person’s life is meant for laying the foundations for times to come in future. This theme is very well described in a movie.

This movie is a amalgamation of feelings and emotions, love, sacrifice, devotion, and the typical youth blood in the present generation, LOVE being the basic mantra. The movie is about 6 friends – 3 boys named Jignesh, Jai (Rats) and Rotlu, and 3 good looking and sexy gals. The groupThe movie is the description in the flashback, told to a girl, who is terrified at first, listening the name of a love story, but ends up enjoying it the most.

Jai Singh Rathore

Jai Singh Rathore, the main character in the film, originally played by Imraan Khan (Amir’s cousin), is a college student, about to graduate, and has a very nice, good and a close friend named Aditi (originally played by Gelinia). Aditi MahantThey both are so good friends, some think they both are in love with each other, even their parents. But the truth is something else, which is realized by both later.

Anyways, the film starts by the sad and traumatic death of a special living being in Aditi’s life, her cat. She is sad and depressed, the cat was like a part of her life. As usual, Jai, her very best friend, tries to cheer her up, a seemingly unsuccessful attempt, with the other 4, and finally get Aditi back and normal, with a second cat presented to her by Jai, that is when the first song in the film (Kabhi Kabhi Aditi….) is played. Aditi is cheerful and like before, as everyone expected.

Aditi thinks Jai to be a tough and a strong man, but this is not the case with Jai. Unlike his father, the great Ajay Singh Rathore from Ranjhor, Rajasthan, he fears power, fight and violence. This is because of the teachings given to him by his mother, Savita, right from childhood. Jai dislikes fighting and violence, and he admits that he cannot even argue on a topic, even if it is for his very best friend.

The graduations were about to complete, and there was a farewell party organized at Aditi’s home. Everyone was invited, and it was funtime, the first time when Jai invited Aditi for a dance on the floor. Aditi, who had no idea about dance, refuses at first, but then, seeing the enthusiasm in the others dancing, cannot stop her excitement. She dances with the others on the song (Pappu can’t dance…….), the special Pappu dance, a unique dance show that can be remembered by every viewer.

Aditi’s parents are very excited about her and Jai’s close relationship, and they consider both to be in love with each other. But on the other hand, Aditi’s brother Amit, is totally not in unison with Jai. They are like 2 faces of a coin, always arguing and rebuking. Well unlike Jai, Amit was quite harsh and chronic. He rebukes Jai for his unpleasant looks, his poorly possession and his bad voice, but Jai avoids all this, that’s his character, a cool boy ignorant to all hazy treatments to life.

Anyways, like their thought, Aditi’s parents call Jai to a breakfast one morning, thinking to talk about their marriage (Aditi and Jai’s), but Jai takes it the other way. He thinks that Aditi’s parents is giving him a chance to join their business, which is what Jai desperately needed. He gets prepared and reaches Aditi’s place, and as usual, there is a collision in the thoughts of Aditi’s Dad and Jai, as a result, there is a misunderstanding, which results to meaningless conversation.

The fact is revealed at last. Quite amazed, in spite of being so nice friends for the last 5 years, Aditi and Jai were never in love, and they never ever thought to marry each other. Quite embarrassed and ridiculed, Aditi speaks about the truth, and they both finally decide that they will look for a mate for each other, and the other 4 will help them out.

This is where the actual flow of feelings and emotions start. The concept becomes very clear, love is understood only when betrayed or deprived.

Jai gets to meet a nice, good-looking and pretty girl named Meghna, the first sight love for Jai.Meghna Jai hangs up with Meghna, completely forgetting his friends, as a new person has entered his life, the typical love-mantra sort of a thing. But Aditi has a different frame of mind. She takes everything deep to feelings. She is quite sad, gloomy because Jai had started avoiding her, and this hurts her the most. She liked talking to Jai everyday, and sharing her feelings to Jai, which is no longer in continuation. Jai is quite happy, he never bothers the other and never thinks about the consequences. He gets closer to Meghna, and they both are in deep love with each other.

But Jai’s past was not like what was told by his mother to him. His father Ajai Singh Rathore, was a king of a small district in Rajasthan, and he was a martyr. His famous deeds and his bravery is well-known is whole Rajasthan, but Jai’s mother hated violence and kingship. So she fled from Rajasthan when Jai was an infant, and throughout his childhood, taught him the basic principles and disciplines of life, non-violence, devotion and goodwill. But Jai’s brave blood often gave him the instinct that he had some brave deeds to do in future, and he often dreamt of a person on a horse with a sword in hand, fighting for justice, but he never realized the truth because of his mother.

Going back to the story, the friendship between Jai and Aditi now started growing hostile. Unlike Jai, Aditi started freaking out on everything, and had arguments over petty matters. She thinks Jai has started ignoring his friends because of his new girlfriend. But Jai never had such intentions. Jai spent most of his times with Meghna, and whenever he met his friends, Meghna was always with him.

Meghna decided to take Jai to her parents. It was Aditi’s birthday, a surprise party was organized to celebrate it, and unfortunately Jai couldn’t come, he had to go to Meghna’s house. That was the first time, I think, that Jai developed a feeling of uneasiness and dislike for Meghna and her parents, specially for their attitude towards life. Meghna’s father was a drunkard businessman, who had no regards and love for his family, and her mother, also had the same. They argued and quarreled on petty things, and don’t mind it in front of others. Jai really felt guilty for missing Aditi’s b’day party, and went to see her late that night. The party was over by then, and Jai met Amit first. This was the first time, when they both ended up without quarreling, and searching Amit’s pet rat, which was found missing. But nevertheless, Jai and Aditi hanged up with a senseless argument, and for the first time Aditi ignored Jai for not coming to the party, and rebuked him formally. For the first time I felt, Jai got hurt by Aditi’s feelings and her thoughts.

Anyways, when everything was going on as mentioned, there is an entry of yet another person in Aditi’s life, Mr. Shushant Mody, who happens to be the exact person Aditi wanted as a life partner, tall, handsome, powerful, tough and good-looking. Aditi was quite impressed by Shushant’s appearance, his collections. But Shushant was a fun-loving guy, he never minded hanging up with girls all day around, which was what Aditi never expected, and he also never mind fighting and grasping on small issues. Although Aditi seemed to be happy with Shushant, deep inside her heart, she was not at all happy.

Shushant was an arrogant type of a person, he wants everything to happen in his way, and he is rude at his disposal sometimes. When he came to know that Aditi and Jai were very good friends for 5 years, he suspected Aditi to have really hanged up with Jai. He despised the truth, which Aditi ignored, unwillingly. It was Jignesh’s birthday, where both Aditi and Jai came, along with their partners. It was the first time, when Jai found it terrible to bear Aditi dancing with Shushant, and things went worse when Shushant smooched Aditi in front of Jai. Jai became upset, and almost cried deep inside his heart. Meghna tried to console him, but Jai was so sad, he acted indifferent to Meghna, which was unlike for the first time. His love and goodness for Aditi was now visible through his attitude towards Meghna. He went back home and slept, with a troubled mind.

The next day, Meghna came early in the morning to meet Jai, and then Jai spoke the truth, that he really loved Aditi. Meghna was somewhere expecting this, so she wasn’t much hurt. Saying goodbye to Jai, she left. On the same day, Meghna met Aditi who was with Shushant in a restaurant. Meghna expressed her feelings and said that Jai loved someone else, much more. Shushant, already suspecting, now openly charged Aditi about their love. Aditi tried to reiterate the fact, but Shushant hanged up with his rude behavior. On tormenting to such level, Aditi at last confessed that she loved Jai, and in reply…Slap !!!!…….. a bang on Aditi’s face. What a gift to a person who is already so sad and depressed with life. Aditi couldn’t manage tears coming out, and she cried bitterly. She decided that she is going abroad, to spent sometime alone, leaving all her friends. She was totally upset with her life, and wanted to spent it the way it wanted.

Jai, on the other hand, was worried about Aditi. And when he came to know that Shushant behaved so badly with her, he couldn’t control his anger. He went to Shushant’s place, and blew him up so badly, that Shushant almost lost his senses. But miseries were not over. There was a police complaint lodged against Jai’s action, and he was taken to police custody. It was the same day when Aditi was about to leave for America, and Jai had to stop her from going. He tried a lot to explain the police officer, but all went in vain, until and unless the two brothers, Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan had their entry. They freed Jai from imprisonment, and offered him their horse to go and get his love. Jai at once fled towards the airport, but he was quite late. Aditi had already departed to the airdrome, and waiting for her flight to arrive. Desperately, Jai makes no sense, he passes by all the barriers, and unfortunately, the security chases him. But Jai ignoring all this, was desperate to get his love back, which finally he manages.

It is said, that last but not the least, a person gets his love sometime and somewhere, by his good deeds. Jai gets Aditi, at the airport, when he sings his favorite song, , for Aditi. Aditi quite impressed and happy, decides not to go abroad.

The most important thing in this movie is the feeling that is attached to it. We cannot call it a complete love story, because there is much more in this movie than love. There is friendship, devotion, sacrifice, understanding, and much more. Very often do we find the scripts that have feelings and emotions attached to it? Specially, family movies get to do it, but movies like Jaane Tu……, the one for college-students, is really a blockbuster. I really liked the movie, it was a big hit under the Amir Khan Productions, and a must to be watched by all college-goers.
